Episode 8: Dolly Daggerz & Limiting Your Inner Critic

Dolly daggerz on stage with her band combining pole with her first love— music. Admittedly, I’m a huge fan of this mashup of creative lanes!

When searching for more folks to chat with for Polerizing Topics, I stumbled across an interview snippet from The Pole Pod. I LOVED how thoughtful Dolly’s questions were, and found myself scrolling through the show’s IG account listening to countless clips. Eventually I found myself on Dolly’s IG account, and noticed a post where she opened up about some of her own mental health battles and knew I had to meet up with her to have an open dialogue as someone who could relate!

Conversations around mental health are so sparse within the pole community, so I was overjoyed when Dolly agreed to be on the other end of the questions for a change. I hope that this particular episode inspires anyone reading or listening to face the things that trouble you, and to seek out support from a community open to understanding YOU.

Quick Facts about Dolly

What are 3 things you’re passionate about?

Veganism, cats and Italy

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you as a person?

I’m 4 months away from leaving my full time music teaching job in London and am setting up a pole retreat in rural Italy. (@rusticpoleretreatitaly)

Where did your initial inspiration come from, and what kept you wanting to pursue growth in the industry?

I was very inspired by some of my pole idols : Maddie Sparkle, Michelle Shimmy, Rachel Tolzman, Rosalyn Mow, Carly Jane (to name but a few).

I love watching these pole dancers to this day. I also am motivated by my growth as a dancer and am passionate about creating. I like to challenge myself and take risks and competing allows me to do that in a healthy way.
